Forked River and neighboring towns have benefited from Hammett's Garden Center's charitable donations to the community. They have contributed to the makings of military memorial walls, eagle scout projects, school projects, and local butterfly gardens. Owner Mary Hammett’s efforts in helping to protect and restore the bay’s ecosystem have been recognized by the American Littoral Society. Mary was also awarded a certificate for her citizenship action on behalf of the Bayscape for Barnegat Bay by introducing native plants to clientele and working those plants into landscapes. In addition, she has been featured in the Asbury Park Press and Lacey Beacon Newspapers. Mary Hammett has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and is always on site handling the daily operations of the garden center.

Owner Kevin Hammett has been in the industry for 35 years. He started as a teenage boy focused on the beautification of residential homes, taking great pride from the beginning of a job right down to the smallest detail of finishing the job. At age 14 he started by pulling his lawnmower behind his bicycle. Over the years, Hammet has developed a reputation with the best form of advertising, word of mouth from a satisfied customer.
